This position would be aligned with any of these offices: New York, NY, Miami, FL Orlando, FL, Chicago, IL, and would support full-time in-person or hybrid working arrangements.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

As a Buildings MEP/FP Engineering Discipline Leader at Woolpert, you will:

 

  • Assist practice leaders and project directors/managers, during the proposal phase, by determining staffing, budgets and schedules for proposed scopes of services; or delegating this responsibility to appropriate team leaders.
  • Assist in negotiation of contracts as needed.
  • Work with project managers to understand elements of the project plan including scope, budget and schedules, and prepare / deliver cost estimates to project manager when scope or schedule is revised.
  • Assign tasks from project plan to team leaders, including scope, budget and schedule, for execution and ensure team leader understanding of deliverable standards.
  • Provide technical assistance and support to team leaders and project managers as needed.
  • Assist in project QA/QC to ensure project meets standards.
  • Participate in professional, civic and business events to establish and enhance Woolpert presence.
  • Communicate and coordinate with practice leaders, project managers and other disciplines to enhance sales and cross-sell Woolpert services.
  • Work with Human Resources to recruit and select qualified employees.
  • Ensure employees are properly fit for position and role by appropriately placing and ensuring continuous training and development.
  • Establishes employee performance goals, provides regular feedback, and works with employees to achieve individual and discipline goals.
  • Conduct regularly scheduled Discipline meetings to discuss resources and technical issues, and to ensure teamwork within and between practice areas and service lines, as necessary.

  • Deliver presentations at conferences, networking events, and professional organizations to highlight the distinctive and innovative services Woolpert offers to clients.
  • Conduct training sessions for internal employees when necessary.

Qualifications

  • BA/BS or MA/MS in related field and fifteen (15) years related experience.
  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE) certification required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience leading engineering projects and teams.
  • Experience with building engineering system design for commercial, mixed-use, aviation, hospitality, and/or high-rise preferred.
  • Experience designing sustainable building systems, including familiarity with LEED, Green Building Institute, or other sustainability credentialing.
  • Excellent presentation, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Expert verbal and written communication abilities for both internal and external relationships.
  • Experience with discipline related software applications and calculation tools.
  • Familiar with Autodesk Revit 3-D modeling software and directing the preparation of construction documents. 
  • Experience conducting and leading QAQC and coordination of design documents between disciplines.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents including scientific and technical journals, handbooks, and industry information.
  • Proficient in use of MS Teams, OneDrive/SharePoint, and MS Office suite.
  • Ability to provide effective responses to sensitive inquiries from clients, regulatory agencies, and/or members of the business community.
  • Able to write technical opinions, articles, and thought leadership social media using original or innovative techniques or style.
  • Mentally and physically capable of performing all essential duties required of the position.
  • Willing to travel to project sites or offices, as needed.

Posted Salary Range

USD $150,000.00 - USD $220,000.00 /Yr.
