This position reports to the Engineering Services Leader and is responsible for managing a team of technical staff in multiple offices and includes promoting the growth of the team and individual team members

 

 

Essential Functions  

As the H&H Team Leader, you will: 

 

  • Establishes employee performance goals, provides regular feedback and works with assigned technical team members to achieve individual goals.  
  • Direct and delegate technical tasks associated with H&H modeling projects. 
  • Provide quality control of H&H deliverables 
  • Effectively resolves conflict within the team by initiating and facilitating communication.  
  • Mentors and coaches their direct reports.  
  • Coordinate with Project Managers/Project Leads to ensure team resource planning and individual workloads are balanced.   
  • Runs regularly scheduled team meetings and communicates during which corporate initiatives/news are presented.  
  • Communicates issues affecting technical task work quality, project schedule, or budget and escalates unresolved issues to a higher level as needed.  
  • Posts job requisitions, interviews, and hires technical team members.  
  • Works closely with Utilities Market personnel to develop fee estimates for bids and proposals, including associate staffing projections, production estimation and detailed pricing calculations within Microsoft Excel.  

 

Responsibilities

The H&H Modeling Team Leader is a strong communicator (written/oral) and collaborator capable of leading technical staff and working with project management staff. Team Projects include, but are not limited to, watershed flood studies, urban drainage studies, site drainage design, and contribution to design plansets. A wide range of modeling and design software and processes will be used within the team to efficiently identify and exceed client needs and expectations. The Team Leader must have managerial and technical problem-solving skills to meet the team’s challenges.   

 

The Utilities H&H Modeling Team Leader is responsible for effective planning and scheduling of key resources on watershed studies and stormwater design projects. They are responsible for managing a team of technical staff in multiple offices and includes promoting the growth of the team and individual team members. Reporting staff includes task managers, engineers, EITs, data analysts and quality control specialists. The Utilities H&H Modeling Team Leader performs goal setting for the team, conducts performance reviews, performs personnel changes, and interviews and hires technical team members when appropriate. 

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 10+ years professional experience required.  
  • Experience in personnel management  
  • Strong preference for candidates to located in Houston area with ability to regularly visit office for face-time with team members. 
  • Provide technical expertise in hydrology/hydraulics and stormwater management. 
  • Demonstrated proficiency with H&H modeling software including, but not limited to, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, ICM, PC-SWMM, XP-SWMM. 
  • Experience with water/wastewater modeling or design is preferred. 
  • Demonstrated ability to take responsibility for, organize, and manage project tasksExperience with delegating work, writing proposals, or project budgeting are preferred. 
  • Desire for personal leadership development.  
  • An ability to analyze, assess, and prioritize multiple requests from market and technical staff and efficiently assign and manage high quality project work.  
  • Detail oriented, with a focus on quality control and data management.  
  • Must be familiar with typical modeling and design project workflow   
  • Must possess strong organizational skills to successfully manage multiple, competing priorities.  
  • Must be comfortable taking initiative to interact with others and resolve conflicts. 
  • Must write clearly, including grammar, spelling, and punctuation.  
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and Access) 
  • Experience with Civil 3D and development of design plansets is preferred

USD $112,960.00 - USD $169,440.00 /Yr.
