This position reports to the Chief HR Officer and is responsible for leading the strategic development, implementation, and continuous improvement of EHS programs across our organization.. Qualified candidates will be key advisor to executive leadership on EHS matters, risk mitigation, and regulatory trends. Priority will be given to candidates who have experience with global EHS regulatory agency policies, compliance, and requirements.

Primary Purpose

The Senior Director of Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) is responsible for leading the strategic development, implementation, and continuous improvement of EHS programs across the organization. This role ensures compliance with all applicable regulations, promotes a culture of safety and sustainability, and drives operational excellence through proactive risk management and employee engagement. 

 

Essential Functions  

As a Senior Director, Environmental, Health & Safety at Woolpert, you will: 

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive EHS strategy aligned with business objectives. 
  • Serve as a key advisor to executive leadership on EHS matters, risk mitigation, and regulatory trends. 
  • Develop and lead crisis response team (CRT) for the company, including running regular tabletop exercises. 
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local EHS regulations. 
  • Lead audits, inspections, and investigations; implement corrective actions and preventive measures. 
  • Oversee environmental permitting, reporting, and sustainability initiatives. 
  • Champion a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement. 
  • Lead training and development programs to enhance EHS awareness and competencies across all levels. 
  • Collaborate with site leaders to standardize EHS practices and metrics. 
  • Monitor performance through KPIs and dashboards; report progress to senior leadership. 
  • Drive innovation in EHS technologies and data analytics. 
  • Manage and mentor a high-performing EHS team across multiple sites or regions. 
  • Foster collaboration and knowledge sharing across departments and locations.

Minimum Requirements   

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, Occupational Health, Safety Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred). 
  • 10+ years of progressive EHS leadership experience, preferably in a multi-site or global organization. 
  • Deep knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other relevant regulatory frameworks. 
  • Proven track record of building and leading high-impact EHS programs. 
  • Strong analytical, communication, and change management skills. 
  • Professional certifications (e.g., CSP, CIH, CHMM) are a plus.

Posted Salary Range

USD $200,000.00 - USD $270,000.00 /Yr.
