Seeking a new career challenge?  Then Woolpert is seeking you!  As we grow, we are seeking a Site/Civil Engineering Team Leader to support our Land Development teams. This position can support hybrid working arrangements with preference for candidates located near a Woolpert office in Ohio.  

 

Position Summary

 

The Site/Civil Engineering Team Leader will lead the planning and scheduling of key resources on Land Development design projects to deliver flawlessly executed projects to our clients; directing plan production and technical staff, reviewing design calculations, promoting the growth of the team, and assisting teams with a variety of site/civil land development engineering projects supporting private market stakeholders.

 

Reporting staff include design engineers, single discipline project managers, and CAD technicians. The Civil Engineering Team Leader performs goal setting for the team, conducts performance reviews, and works with the discipline leader on personnel changes and interviews and hires technical team members when appropriate. The Civil Engineering Team Leader also provides a technical role to the team in addition to the people management role. This may include but is not limited to planning, design, budgeting, and project scheduling on project related work.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

  • Work alongside project managers to lead the design
  • Directs and delegates execution of quality project deliverables to and among technical team members.
  • Collaborate with and lead cross-functional team members to ensure project objectives (scope, schedule, budget, quality, deliverables) are met in accordance with established metrics
  • Provide technical expertise in site/civil design, hydrology/hydraulics, erosion and sedimentation control, and stormwater management
  • Utilize AutoCAD Civil 3D to develop concept plans and grading plans
  • Coordinate permitting with County and local municipalities.  Experience with local municipalities is a plus.
  • Work with project management team to identify challenges and develop and implement solutions
  • Establishes employee performance goals, provides regular feedback and works with discipline leaders and assigned technical team members to achieve individual and sector goals.
  • Effectively resolves conflict within team by initiating and facilitating communication.
  • Mentors and coaches direct reports.
  • Communicates issues affecting phase/task or project schedule, budget or quality and escalates unresolved issues to project manager and/or discipline leader.
  • Identifies plan vs. actual performance variances. Provides monthly reporting of resource planning, percent completes, budget dollar variance and market communications.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field
  • 10 or more years professional Site/Civil Design experience
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) certification is required. 
  • Previous people management experience, including establishing goals with staff, performance management and reviews, conflict resolution, and desire to lead.  
  • Proven experience with codes and regulations, interpreting plans, designing storm water facilities, site grading and local and state permitting for land disturbance
  • Civil 3D experience 
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and manage multiple tasks
  • Ability to provide excellent client service
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in a dynamic environment
  • Strong organizational, time management, attention to detail and analytical skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment; offer constructive feedback and direction to support goals

Posted Salary Range

USD $106,400.00 - USD $177,400.00 /Yr.
