Seeking a new career challenge? Then Woolpert is seeking you! Woolpert is hiring a Chief Accounting Officer (CAO) to join our dynamic Finance and Support Team remotely. This position reports to the Chief Financial Officer and is responsible for ensuring the integrity, scalability, and compliance of the company’s financial reporting and accounting operations. This is a critical leadership role at the enterprise level, supporting Woolpert’s continued global growth and operational expansion. The CAO will manage the Corporate Controller, the Project Financials Group Leader, and related teams, and serve as a key steward of financial governance across all business lines.
Essential Functions
As a Chief Accounting Officer at Woolpert, you will:
Lead and develop the global accounting function, ensuring compliance with GAAP and internal financial policies.
Oversee the close calendar, general ledger, and consolidated financial statements for accuracy and timeliness.
Manage the Corporate Controller and Project Financials Group Leader, as well as other direct reports across accounting operations.
Ensure strong internal controls, audit readiness, and compliance across geographies and sectors.
Serve as the primary liaison with external auditors, coordinating annual audits and managing technical accounting issues.
Guide accounting policy decisions, oversee technical memos, and ensure accounting treatment supports complex business arrangements, including acquisitions.
Drive integration of new financial solutions into Woolpert’s ERP ecosystem and lead ongoing updates to support evolving business needs.
Standardize and scale accounting practices across international entities to support growth and M&A.
Partner with the finance, tax, legal, and compliance functions to align accounting with broader business strategy.
Demonstrated success leading accounting operations in a global, multi-entity organization.
Deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP; experience with IFRS is a plus.
Proven ability to manage audits, internal controls, and cross-border financial compliance.
Experience with ERP systems and technology integration in a growth-oriented environment.
Strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
