Job Summary:

As a member of the Cloud Solutions and Interdisciplinary Services (CSIS) team, the Sr. Software Engineer provides hands-on engineering and technical leadership for our projects, such as Computer Aided Mass Appraisal or Google Mobility solutions. The successful Sr. Software Engineer will research rapidly evolving cloud and full-stack technologies to stay current and know when and how to best incorporate them as part of an overall solution. This position is client-facing and focused on successful project delivery, including providing technical leadership for your project team, collaborating during discovery activities, developing technical solutions, hands-on coding and testing in an agile/scrum environment, and leading delivery teams through implementation and production go-live.    

Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

 

  • Perform client and project discovery activities to understand business and technical requirements and translate them into scalable architectural solutions   
  • Key member of the engineering team, working with client engineering teams, product owners, solutions architects, front-end developers, and mobile app developers to drive successful project delivery for our clients and solutions   
  • Design, implement, and optimize backend services, APIs, and databases following best practices and design patterns   
  • Write high-quality, maintainable code: implement and test code using software engineering best practices, including automated testing and CI/CD pipelines   
  • Develop prototypes and working demos for client presales and discovery activities, showcasing innovative solutions to complex business problems   
  • Understand and implement DevOps best practices and tools to streamline development workflows and improve deployment reliability   
  • Implement robust security practices throughout the development lifecycle to ensure data protection and compliance   
  • Mentor junior team members and provide technical guidance to improve team capabilities and code quality   
  • Follow agile/scrum methodologies and best practices   
  • Work closely with the cloud solutions architect and technical managers to drive successful delivery of client projects as well as establish repeatable processes and best practices in a professional services organization   

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

 

  • 8+ years of experience in software engineering role 
  • 4+ years of experience with .NET development, with proven expertise in .NET Core for enterprise-level applications  
  • Demonstrated proficiency in data storage, analytics, and processing tools (RDBMS, NoSql, ETL patterns and tools, Data Warehouse/Lake, etc) 
  • Demonstrated proficiency in at least one programming language (C#, Python, Java, NodeJS/ES6, etc) 
  • Demonstrated proficiency in designing and implementing modern APIs with appropriate security measures 
  • Experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and microservices architecture 
  • Practical knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices 
  • Solid understanding of SDLC and Agile software development methodologies and tools related to team software development (e.g. Git, Jira, etc.) 
  • Experience with performance optimization and scalability of enterprise applications. 
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders 

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Google Cloud Platform or AWS experience, project and security setup and configuration 
  • Professional services experience, designing and delivering large enterprise solutions 
  • Cloud-native application development and serverless architecture experience 
  • Experience with event-driven architecture and message queuing systems 
  • Google Maps Platform development experience, e.g. Google Maps APIs 
  • Experience with data migration and integration between disparate systems  
  • System monitoring, logging, and observability implementation 
  • Front end development experience using React/Angular/Typescript.
