Overview

Woolpert has an exciting opportunity for a Water & Alternative Water Supply Practice Leader based in the United States.   

 

Within our U.S. water business, we have seen consistent growth driven by our clients’ needs to address challenges stemming from population growth, water scarcity and drought, groundwater depletion, source water quality impairments, climate variability, rapidly increasing hyperscaler water demands, resilience and reliability, and evolving reuse regulations. We anticipate more focus on integrated water resource management, water supply diversification, recycled water development, ocean and brackish water desalination, aquifer storage and recovery, conservation/demand management, and reuse/One Water solutions as water supply scarcity becomes more pressing. This position represents a strategic business opportunity for Woolpert, and the Water & Alternative Water Supply Practice Leader position is designed to help the company grow a world class water and alternative supply practice. 

Responsibilities

As the Water & Alternative Water Supply Leader at Woolpert, you will:

  • In collaboration with the Market Director, support the growth of these services across the water market, federal market, and opportunistically across all Wolpert’s market sectors.   
  • Attract, recruit, train, coach, mentor, and supervise team professionals. 
  • Develop team goals and structures aligned with the market, sector and corporate goals and vision.  Assign tasks and responsibilities to team members. 
  • Shape market strategies, gaining hands-on experience in brand development and positioning. 
  • Oversee and manage the financial growth of the practice 
  • Oversee scenario planning efforts for integrated water supply and One Water projects. 
  • Oversee the development of surface water management strategies, planning assessments, and implementation strategies. 
  • Support innovative water supply planning and implementation services, including reuse and brackish water desalination. 
  • Support water demand estimates and conservation assessments. 
  • Support project business case evaluations and opinions of costs. 
  • Support water supply marketing efforts and grow Woolpert’s relationships with key water leaders and decision makers throughout the Country 
  • Support permitting of water supply and water reuse projects. 
  • Oversee the deliverable quality and implement standard operating procedures. 
  • Meet yearly market goals aligned with vision, strategy, structure, and staffing. 
  • Project management, including developing project plans, budgeting, scheduling, implementing QA/QC measures, creating proposals, and maintaining client relations. 
  • Support and develop innovation strategies to create marketplace differentiation and client value. 
  • Support managing team wide KPIs, including net revenue, utilization, and budget dollar variance. 

Qualifications

 

Preferred Skills and Abilities

  • 20+ years of work in the water supply planning and delivery 
  • Master of Engineering or Science 
  • Licensed PE preferred  
  • Experience with business development, proposals, and client interviews. 
  • Experience with team recruitment, leadership, mentorship, and growth. 
  • Experience in developing comprehensive reports and client-facing presentations. 
  • Experience leading project tasks and executing water supply planning and implementation projects. 
  • Knowledge of water laws for surface water, groundwater, and reclaimed water. 
  • Strong data analysis skills. 
  • Must have Microsoft Office suite skills.
