Seeking a new career challenge? Then Woolpert is seeking you! Woolpert is hiring an Engineering Technician III to join our dynamic Geospatial team at our Bay St. Louis (Stennis), Mississippi office. This position reports to the Discipline Leader II and is responsible for advanced technical tasks, including complex fabrication, assembly, and full system testing. Qualified candidates will be proficient in using testing equipment and tools for electronic, optical, and thermal systems.

Responsibilities

As an Engineering Technician III at Woolpert, you will:

  • Perform advanced fabrication and assembly tasks for electronic, optical, and thermal systems. 
  • Conduct detailed testing and troubleshooting of electronic, optical, and thermal components and systems. 
  • Develop and follow detailed procedures for the assembly, testing, and maintenance of systems. 
  • Collaborate with engineers to design and implement testing protocols and procedures. 
  • Analyze test results and provide detailed reports on system performance. 
  • Maintain and manage inventory of components and materials. 
  • Provide technical support and guidance to junior technicians and other team members. 
  • Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards in all tasks. 

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements 

  • An associate’s degree or apprenticeship in a related field, or must have High School diploma or equivalent and a minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience  
  • 3-5 years of electrical, optical, thermal, general systems experience Preferred. 
  • Proficiency in using testing equipment and tools for electronic, optical, and thermal systems. 
  • Strong understanding of procedures and protocols for system assembly and testing. 
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering technical drawings and schematics. 
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. 
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment. 
  • Relevant certifications or technical training in electronics, optics, or thermal systems is preferred. 

Other Considerations: 

  • Experience with aircraft positioning and handling. 
  • Familiarity with procurement processes and inventory management. 
  • Basic knowledge of safety protocols and procedures in a technical environment.  
  • You thrive working in a fast-paced, highly driven environment and can adapt quickly to changing conditions and priorities. 
  • Experience with Microsoft Office software 
  • A team player who is confident, respectful, curious, flexible, and able to work with other professionals in a growing, successful, and respected business. 
  • Must read and interpret documents like safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals. 
  • Must be able to write clear and concise reports and correspondence. 

Working Conditions: 

  • This position may require working in various environments, including laboratories, field sites, and aircraft hangars. 
  • Some travel may be required for field testing and operational support.

Resulting Physical Qualifications: 

  • Must be able to sit for extended periods of time. 
  • Must be able to operate and manipulate standard office equipment. 
  • Must be able to occasionally reach, bend, climb and/or balance. 
  • Must be able to frequently lift and/or move 10 to 50 pounds. 
  • Must have visual abilities of close vision, distance and color vision, peripheral vision, depth (stereo) vision and the ability to quickly adjust focus.
