Overview

This position is primarily responsible for performing engineering functions specific to aviation/airfield design under the direction of a Professional Engineer.

Candidates must be geographically based in Southern California, with a strong preference for those located in Ventura County.

Responsibilities

  • Performs engineering computations, conducts evaluations, design analyses, and design development.
  • Prepares reports, recommendations and opinions for approval by a supervising Professional Engineer.
  • Applies standard engineering practices and techniques to adjust and correlate data; recognizes and resolves discrepancies in results and follows operations through a series of related steps or processes.
  • Works as a member of a project team in the development of data and/or applications.
  • Uses AutoDesk Civil 3D and AutoCAD to develop engineering and design documents.
  • Participates in firm-wide quality initiatives.
  • May serve as a field engineer during construction of a project.
  • Provides daily support to engineering projects through contact with and advice from engineers on the team.
  • Creates documents from foundational material relative to a project that provides underlying support for decisions made by engineers on the team.
  • Applies prescribed techniques and procedures based on standardized and established criteria that result in tasks required by the specifications of the project.
  • Uses knowledge gained as the basis for adding responsibilities over time.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering
  • 0-4 years industry experience
  • Engineer in Training certification or ability to obtain within 12 months of hire.
  • Must be mentally and physically capable of performing all essential duties required of the position.
  • Must be able to read, analyze and interpret basic scientific, technical, financial and legal documents.
  • Must be able to apply mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations and permutations.
  • Must have average verbal and written communication skills for both internal and external relationships.
  • Must be able to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries from clients, regulatory agencies, and/or members of the business community.
  • Must have Microsoft Office suite skills.
  • Must be familiar with discipline related software applications.
  • Must possess a highly proficient expertise in AutoDesk Civil 3D and AutoCAD software.
  • Familiarity with FAA Design Advisory Circulars a plus.
  • Must be able to sit for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to operate and manipulate standard office equipment.
  • Must be able to occasionally reach, bend, climb and/or balance.
  • Must be able to frequently lift and/or move 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds
