Overview

This position is primarily responsible for performing engineering functions specific to the transportation business line under the direction of a project manager. Have project experience with providing engineering design services for TxDOT roadway and drainage design projects.

Responsibilities

  • Produces technical deliverables for assigned project(s) for successful delivery to clients
  • Provide detailed hydraulic design calculations in support of signed and sealed plan sheets; provide storm sewer and culvert layouts, specifications, summary of storm sewer quantities and final plan sheets; review the work of other engineers; train and mentor less experienced engineers; supervise and review the work of CAD drafting technicians; work closely with other disciplines within the company. 
  • Prepare plans, schedules, and/or coordinates the preparation of documents or activities for multiple projects
  • Mentors younger staff and coordinates and works closely with all project disciplines

Qualifications

  • BS in Civil Engineering with five (5) years of related experience.
  • PE license Required.
  • Must have Microsoft Office suite skills.
  • Must be familiar with discipline related software applications.
  • Must have Microstation experience including Geopak Drainage and Open Roads Designer – Drainage and Utilities
  • Must be mentally and physically capable of performing all essential duties required of the position.
  • Must be able to read, analyze and interpret basic scientific data and technical documents.
  • Must be able to apply college level mathematical concepts.
  • Must have average verbal and written communication skills for both internal and external relationships.
  • Must be able to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries from clients, regulatory agencies, and/or members of the business community.
